Editorial Standards

These standards guide every story published by theTailed Newsroom.

Accuracy before speed

We aim to verify the central facts of a story before publication. Breaking or developing reports are labelled clearly, and uncertainty is stated rather than disguised.

Sources and attribution

We prefer original and authoritative sources, including official documents, primary research, named organisations and direct statements. Source links are provided where practical. Reporting from another publication is attributed rather than presented as our own first-hand reporting.

Headlines

Headlines may be lively and curiosity-led, but they must be supported by the article. We do not promise facts, findings or outcomes that the story cannot substantiate.

Health and welfare

Pet health coverage is written for general information. It must not diagnose an animal, replace a veterinary consultation or tell readers to begin, stop or change treatment without appropriate professional advice.

Independence and commercial links

Editorial judgement is not sold. Advertising, sponsorship or affiliate relationships must be identified. Links to theTailed products are clearly presented as product links and do not alter the factual conclusions of a story.

Authorship and dates

Newsroom stories are edited by Scoop and produced by theTailed Editorial Desk. Articles display an original publication date. A modified date or update note is used only when a meaningful change has been made.

Corrections

Material errors are corrected promptly and transparently under our Corrections Policy. Contact store@thetailed.com with a specific concern and supporting source.
